Client Software

Yellow Dog Inventory uses a client software application. This client can be accessed in three ways:

  1. Locally installed windows client

  2. Browser access to hosted windows client

  3. Microsoft RemoteApp locally installed (Windows or Mac) to access hosted windows client

Option 1: Locally Installed Windows Client

System Requirements

Software:

  • Windows 10 or higher

  • .NET Framework 4.6.2

Note - some features are not compatible on versions less than Windows 10

Hardware:

  • 2.4ghz Dual Core x86-based Processor (ARM Processors not supported at this time)

  • 4gb of Memory

  • 1gb of Storage

  • Screen Resolution of at least 1920x1080

Internet

  • High Speed Internet Required

The Yellow Dog Inventory client needs to be installed on each computer workstation on which a user will be performing inventory management. The client is initially installed using a Windows MSI package. After the initial installation, the client should only be upgraded on the server. The server will store the software version and auto-update any clients upon next launch.

Note: With some versions of the client, you may need to Run As Administrator the first time in order to configure the client properly.

How many computers can Yellow Dog Inventory be installed on?

Unlimited. The Yellow Dog Inventory client can be installed on unlimited workstations.

Option 2: Browser Access

Supports any HTML5 compatible browser.

Option 3: Locally Installed Remote App

System Requirements

If you are hosted by Yellow Dog Software, we can provide you an ability to run your client application via a Microsoft RemoteApp service.  If you have a server that is not hosted by Yellow Dog Software, we can cannot provide you with this ability.

Mac Support - Yellow Dog Software can provide access to the client application via Microsoft Remote Desktop Version 10+.   Certain abilities including exporting report data to directly to Outlook and Excel not supported via this method.  Only supported/available for clients hosted by Yellow Dog Software.

Mac Client

  • Requires macOS version 10.13 (High Sierra) or greater.

  • Requires an active AppleID for downloading Microsoft Remote Desktop 10+ from the Apple Store.

iPad Requirements:

  • iOS 8.0 or higher

  • Microsoft Remote Desktop app (available for free in the app store)

Android Requirements:

  • Android 4.1 or higher.

  • Microsoft Remote Desktop app (available for free in the app store)
