Yellow Dog Inventory synchronizes data with InfoGenesis. This document outlines requirements necessary to ensure a clean sync.
Sync Location Requirements
The following information is required to fully configure Yellow Dog Inventory to interface with InfoGenesis:
A complete list of profit center names and numbers that will contain retail inventory.
The starting number (menu_item_id) for items in each profit center.
The following information is also required, but will be pulled automatically from InfoGenesis and made available via dropdowns.
Whether or not items are discountable (this can be set granularly)
All item groups used
All classes used
All report categories used
All revenue categories used
All security levels used
All tax groups used
Whether or not taxes are included
Data Exchange and Mapping
Exporting Item Data
SyncYdiWithInfoGenesis.exe creates a text file (named MI_Imp.txt), which contains all retail items to be imported into InfoGenesis. Our sync places the file in a shared folder to be picked up by Infogenesis’ Imp_Exp.exe utility.
If an item is deleted or made unavailable to a store in Yellow Dog, the sync will no longer push item updates to Infogenesis. However, this does not make the item inactive in the POS.
Importing Sales and Code Data
While syncing data between Yellow Dog Inventory and InfoGenesis, Yellow Dog Inventory reads data from several databases using a stand-alone executable named SyncYdiWithInfoGenesis.exe. The following tables are read from by SyncYdiWithInfoGenesis.exe:
The InfoGenesis workstations are not immediately updated when new items are imported.
Infogenesis’ Imp_Exp.exe utility must be scheduled to run via Windows Task Scheduler or within InfoGenesis itself. In general, SyncYdiWithInfoGenesis.exe should be scheduled to run on the hour and MI_Imp.exe fifteen minutes later.
SyncYdiWithInfoGenesis.exe can run on any server; but we recommend that it run on the Yellow Dog Inventory application server.
We will need a SQL login with read access to the IT_CFG and IT_TRN databases.
We will also need a Windows service account with access to a shared folder on the InfoGenesis application server where we will place MI_Imp.txt. This account will be used by the Task Scheduler to launch SyncYdiWithInfoGenesis.exe on the Yellow Dog Inventory server.
The InfoGenesis import folder must be network shared, at any level. This folder is typically D:\InfoGenesis\Import\Enterprise_001\Store_001\.
