Migrating to a new POS system is a very detailed process and should be treated as such. Most of our POS integrations require extensive configuration and testing to ensure items are setup properly in the POS and report properly to Yellow Dog to maintain accurate on hand counts.

Project Steps

  • Conference Call to discuss tasks and dates

  • Determine if an upgrade to Yellow Dog is needed

  • POS server review to ensure appropriate .NET version and other system requirements are met.

  • Configure POS interfaces in Yellow Dog

  • Test interfaces

  • Test barcode scanning

  • Test Sales reporting

  • Provide training and documentation on the new POS interface configuration

  • Review with customer and close the migration project

Most migrations can be completed in one day. However, some systems require more configuration and can take up to three days to complete.

Yellow Dog will require a minimum 14 days notice prior to Go Live for the new POS system. In general, the more time we have to prepare for the migration, the better more work we can complete ahead of time to make the transition as smooth as possible.

The following tasks must be completed before Yellow Dog can begin working on the migration:

  • Sign and return Yellow Dog labor proposal

  • Provide contact information for your POS consultant implementing the new system

  • Provide your companies IT contact(s) who can provide assistance with things like, but not limited to:

    • Network access

    • Server access

    • Domain users and permissions

  • POS details

    • Version

    • Cloud server or On-premise

  • List of Yellow Dog stores that will be converting to the new POS system
